A meeting of the Door & Access System Manufacturers Association UL 325 subcommittee was held in Chicago, August 3^rd and 4^th. UL 325 is the Standard referenced for complying with various requirements of a Gate Operator manufacturer. This very important meeting focused on safety issues of the US Gate Operator industry and started with a presentation given by Mr. Helmut Friedrich, Founder of ASO GmbH and President of ASO Safety Solutions, Inc. The presentation focused on Safety Standards in Europe and how they can impact accidents caused by motorized gates.

Mr Friedrich is a leading expert in safety for the European markets and is a Board Member of BVT, Vice President of BAS.T and the German delegate for the WG ISO/TC 199 on safety issues in Europe. The participants, US industry experts, produced a very successful meeting with recommendations to improve safety in this market. DASMA is the organization of manufacturers representing interests of the Door and Access Systems industries. Mr. Olaf Grobe, Group Vice President, and Tom Polistina Vice President of ASO Safety Solutions Inc. also attended and contributed to the meeting.
